Oh, Richard!
"Oh, Richard!" is an original performance that reinterprets "Richard III" as an allegory for the eternal cycle of destruction. War, portrayed as an autonomous and inevitable entity, becomes an equal protagonist of the story, accompanying Richard on his path to destruction. The entire play unfolds in a world covered in ash, a reminder of the cost of the human desire for power.
This performance uses original theatre puppets, designed and constructed by Daria Holovchanska using contemporary techniques explored and discovered during her laboratory work at the Théâtre de la Massue. It also combines movement, objects, music, and its innovative forms of expression all of that offer a fresh perspective on Shakespeare's tragedy. The action takes place in a world that has turned to ashes, reminding us anew of the cost of humanity's thirst for power.
